Western Districts Junior Rugby League Football Club

Home of the mighty Tigers!

The place where we live & breathe NRL! The club that helps provide families in the Pioneer Valley & surrounding districts amazing rugby league opportunities!

Junior Rugby League is all about the development of players from an early age. The rules, field size, ball size and playing times are all adjusted over the years to develop with the player and increase their skills.

Juniors can sign up to play in the calendar year that they turn 5.

Volunteers are the heart & soul of our game, and the backbone of every community club. Being a Tigers volunteer is a great way to meet new people, develop & learn new skills in the game and make an impact in the community by volunteering for our club. At West Tigers JRL, we pride ourselves on having fantastic, well maintained fields, training sheds & facilities. We are also lucky to share our home with our fabulous Senior Club: Western Suburbs Leagues Club Mackay

Our History

On Monday 8th December, 1969, a meeting was called for representatives from Eton, Marian and Pioneer Valley Junior Rugby League clubs to form what is now known as the Western District Junior Rugby League Football Club. This decision was headed by Noel Rolfe from Eton Junior Rugby League, Mick Shew from Marian Junior Rugby League and Brian (Jigger) Dodt of the Pioneer Valley Junior Rugby League.

Eight teams were nominated for the 1970 Mackay Junior Rugby League season. In 1971 and 1972, this grew to eleven teams competing in the competition.

Since then, Western District Junior Rugby League Football Club has continued to grow and dominate the Mackay District Junior Rugby League competition. In the 2023 season, Wests boasted 23 teams from Under 6s to Under 17s, and with over 500 registered players and volunteers, our club remains an integral part of the Mackay rugby league scene.
